Argegno
The Argegno–Pigra cable car is a public transport link between Argegno, on the lakeshore, and the village of Pigra, at 860 metres.
It opened in 1971. It is a jig-back cableway: two cabins carrying 12 people each, with no attendant on board, run along a line about 1.2 kilometres long and climb 650 metres in six minutes, on a gradient that reaches 95 per cent in places. On the way up you look down on the first basin of the lake. The valley station is about a hundred metres from the Argegno landing stage and close to the C110 bus stop. It is run by ATM, the Milan transport company, which reopened it on 9 August 2024 after a period of closure. Paths lead from Pigra into the Val d'Intelvi.
A dog pays the ticket for bicycles, pets and pushchairs and must wear a muzzle; guide dogs travel free
