Laglio
Laglio's war memorial is a bronze sculpture by Michele Vedani on the lakefront in front of the town hall.
Made in 1922 for the dead of the First World War, it represents Italy on a tall granite base. The woman rests a sword on the ground with her left hand and raises a Roman standard bearing the letters SPQR with her right. A small winged Victory at the top offers a laurel wreath. More than three metres tall, the figure twists at the waist, with wind-blown clothing. It was cast in Milan and was already installed in Laglio by November 1922.
