Why go

The Pini tomb, in Laglio's cemetery, was designed by Franco Albini in 1945 for two children of the family who died in 1943 and 1944.

The Pinis lived in Milan and had a house at Carate Urio; Albini was already designing furniture for their Milan home. The tomb has two tall parallel walls and no roof. One wall has an opening and is carved with the family name; the other is solid, with a stylised cross and plaques bearing the names in relief. Two large angels of copper sheet, by an unknown sculptor, are suspended between the walls. They replace the flight of birds envisaged in the design.

  • A work by Franco Albini in a village cemetery, built for two children on the slope looking over the lake.
  • It is in the same cemetery as the Frank pyramid.
